CAM DXF for metal cutting: export a nesting in DXF with all the CAM features you need
You can now export all nestings made in Nest&Cut as DXF with CAM feature such as lead-ins, lead-outs, bridges, micro-joints, offcut and skeleton cutting, etc.
If you work in metal cutting, after having nested parts in Nest&Cut, you need to produce them. So far, you could either download nestings as DXF (just nested geometries) or as machine codes (NC codes). When using machine codes, nested parts are translated into cutting trajectories<link to article, starting with a lead-in, ending with a lead-out, maybe adding some CAM features such as bridges or micro-joints, all this with an optimized cutting sequence. So you had a choice: having just (nested) geometries in DXF or all trajectories, sequenced parts and CAM feature in NC codes.
Some of you, our much-appreciated customers, told us that you wanted to combine this: all the trajectories, CAM features and sequence … in a DXF file, not an NC code file. That’s why we introduced the output “CAM DXF”. You can now select it as a machine in nesting settings.
By clicking on the little pen here, or by going in Settings / Machine configurations, you can create a custom machine configuration for this “CAM DXF” and add all the CAM features you need: corners loops, micro-joints, bridges, skeleton cut, etc.
When you download the resulting DXFs, you will see that all cutting trajectories are described in the DXF with these CAM features.
If you are interested by this kind of output in DXF, please test it and give us your feedback!
Did you know that the CAM DXF is one of the manymachines you can select in Nest&Cut?
We export NC codes for many machines and we are adding more each month. We recently introduced support for HPGL and Bodor machines.
